Why this project?

Science is not and should not be reserved for academics - it concerns us all. Let’s create the reflex to look towards science to understand our world, with Reflexscience.
This online portal for discovering new topics and joint knowledge-building is a project from Université Gustave Eiffel. It is designed to promote the sharing of knowledge and make science accessible to many people as possible.

To do so, we wanted to create a living web portal, in which knowledge is shared and co-constructed, just like in our society. And we need you to:

  • Comment on and share content with your friends, by email or social media, tagging #reflexscience and @UGustaveEiffel
  • Give us new ideas for topics to cover, by contacting us at reflexscience(at)univ-eiffel.fr

Our philosophy and values

Whether you are a student, member of an association, technician, nurse, banker, or anything else, we all have a role to play in making our society move forward. We simply need the same access to opportunities to do so.

Reflexscience is a project with strong values, promoting equal opportunity, by:

  • Encouraging as many people as possible to appropriate knowledge through simple, fun and free-to-access content.
  • Support cultural and social diversity through the choice of subjects covered, and diversity among the contributors and audience, who we hope to be mixed.
  • Fighting gender stereotypes through research shared on this topic, balanced representation and the scriptwriting for content produced.

What is on Reflexscience?

Reflexscience is a web portal offering multimedia content (articles, books, dossiers, videos, podcasts, cartoons, etc.) and presenting various science and society events in connection with the University’s teaching and research. Whatever your level of knowledge, we hope that you will find this information interesting and enjoyable to peruse.

Just like the University website, special care has been paid to its accessibility, particularly for people with a visual impairment. Pages are progressively made compliant in line with recommendations from the joint accessibility criteria reference document for French administration internet services of law no. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005 for equal rights and opportunity, participation and citizenship of disabled people.

On a related note, we invite you to discover our text-to-speech tool “Readspeaker”, which allows you to listen to a text in multiple languages and download it as an MP3. When available, this tool can be found at the top right of the page or by highlighting the text.

Project contributors

The Reflexscience project is coordinated by the Knowledge Sharing and Openness to Society Department of the Research Vice-Presidency of Université Gustave Eiffel: dsos.contact(at)univ-eiffel.fr
All research personnel at Université Gustave Eiffel are invited to share their knowledge on Reflexscience. You will therefore find reliable, quality information on this portal, straight from our research laboratories.

But as we have said, we want to build this project with you.

  • Our desire? To share content with different audiences and have input from our readers.
  • Our longer-term ambition? To get to know our readers better and build the knowledge that our society needs in partnership with them.
