ELEA discovers urban logistics

and updated in November 2022

We can buy all kinds of things in just a few clicks. However, delivery in cities is increasingly difficult and causes many traffic problems. Urban logistics is the art of organising goods transport. Today, goods can be transported by bike, train or even riverboat.

ELEA will take you into the world of urban logistics to help you better understand this complex subject. Simply play the video (duration: 2m 30s).

Put simply...

What is the “last mile”? In the world of goods transport, we talk about the cost of the “last mile” because a package or parcel generates the most road traffic, and therefore pollution, when it leaves or arrives at a warehouse or shop. Deliveries must therefore be optimised, either by reducing the journey time of parcels (by delivering several to a single destination, i.e. a pickup point) or by using alternative modes of transport such as cargo bikes.
