How can we use waste to build pavements? Find the answer in a film made in 1987 by the LCPC (Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussées) entitled “From waste... to the road: two illustrations”, which presents the use of asphalt reinforced with plastic waste and the recycling of aggregates produced by crushing demolition concrete.
Accelerated recarbonation of recycled concrete
As part of the national RECYBETON project focusing on fully recycling concrete, scientists have been looking into recycling techniques for this material, enabling new concretes to be made.
The almost natural processing of aggregates by carbonation not only improves the characteristics of the material but also stores CO2. This is a natural phenomenon which occurs slowly, and new techniques are being developed to process large quantities of aggregates more quickly.
In this video, discover the principle of accelerated recarbonation, which enables deconstruction materials to be reused while reducing their environmental impact.
